Getting an OSU Username and Password
- Point your browser to: http://www.osu.edu/units/uts/publications/security_help/troubleshoot.html
- Click Get OSU Internet Username. This starts Telnet, bringing up a character based Telnet window. If your browser is not configured to start a telnet client application you will get an error. Try the Manual Telnet Connection Method below and then return to the next step..
- The UTS Account Creation System will appear with directions to complete this process.
- Read the directions.
- You MUST correctly enter your Social Security Number as the directions say (no spaces), and press return.
- You will then be asked for EITHER your BUCK*I*D number OR your OSU University ID. Type in "unknown" if your don't know one of these numbers.
- The screen will display information regarding your account creation and you will then set the password.
- If this process fails, or you need help, call the UTS customer service help desk at 614-688-4357.
It will take about 15 minutes for the creation of your account to migrate through the OSU system so that you can use the proxy server. If this process fails, or you need help, call the UTS customer service help desk at 614-688-4357.
